first.. you should have a draft... draw all the things you want to be present in your poster...
You should imagine what is the arrangements then draw...
What it is about, for you to consider what color to be used.
Imagine...If its colorful it relates to a happiness, if it shows formal you can use black as background....
For me... Black is the an ideal color for formality.
